One of the common causes of depression is when other people attack and slander us, and when as a result, it seems that all our friends and family members abandon us to these attacks. Those whom we thought would protect and defend us instead seem to become our foes.
So when we are facing depression, we need to be reminded who is on our side. Joshua 1:5 is a Scripture on depression which helps us see that God is on our side. The Scripture says this:
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
This was a promise which God made to Joshua before he entered the Promised Land to defeat the Canaanites. But as we through life, and as we try to follow God and obey His will, we can know that God makes similar promises to us. God also will be with us, and no person will be able to stand against us. Though they may slander you and drag your name through the mud and speak evil of you to all your friends and family members, God knows what the truth is, and God will be with you. He will not leave nor forsake you.
Do not let the false lies of other people defeat you and bring you into a state of depression. Let the Scriptures be your guide, and let the promises of God encourage and uplift you.
